Lexicon of the Wheel
Glossary
Core terms, ancient symbols, Gates, and concepts from A Wanderer’s Guide to the Gates, A History of the Gates, and the Book of Remnants.
- Awareness
- The natural state of clear perception in Realm I (Origin), discovered rather than achieved, obscured only by layers of forgetting.
- Breath
- The primal physical anchor of Origin and Return; the wordless rhythm that carries presence without narrative.
- Codex of the Great Wheel
- The ancient mythic and mortal record gathered by those who walked the Ten Gates before; documented in A History of the Great Wheel and the Ten Gates.
- Compassion
- Realm VI: Shared presence between two beings who have dropped performance. 'I can be with you without becoming you, and without requiring you to become me.'
- Counterfeit
- A habit or intellectual defense that co-opts a genuine human virtue (awareness, structure, courage, rest) into armor, an escape hatch, or a performance.
- Desire
- The ancient Codex name for the Gate of Revelation (Realm IV); the intense heat of wanting what one actually wants.
- Direction
- Realm III (Identity): The quiet current beneath surface noise. Following what moves rather than what impresses others.
- Echoes
- Realm V: The return signal of reality; receiving the world's unedited feedback without revising it into flattery or catastrophe.
- First Light
- The Gate of Realm I (Origin); appears before the mind has arranged itself into readiness.
- Form
- Realm II: The shape and discipline through which intention becomes real; stone that holds its shape until the inner truth is ready.
- Gate
- The threshold where reality replaces the counterfeit. Gates do not open to effort, but to a shift in seeing.
- Gatekeeper
- The silent watcher who records the testimony of those who crossed the Gates and those who built lives at the edge.
- Growth

- Inversion
- When the inward light bends back on itself, mistaking the almost-lesson for the true teaching.
- Key
- A direct recognition of being, not an intellectual tool or concept. A Key is inhabited, not collected.
- Last Light

- Open Ground
- The Gate of Realm V (Echoes); standing in the unguarded flash where the world's answer lands.
